Who am I? To me, this is one of the hardest questions to write about. I am the coauthor of the chapter “The Positive Focus” and a hardworking, passionate hairdresser. More importantly, I am a wife of almost 1½ years, two fur-babies’ mama, and part of an amazing family with plenty of love that goes around. Truly, I feel very blessed to have been dealt the cards that I have to play.
When I was around 14 years old, I was in getting some highlights in my alreadyblonde hair to help blend the “winter drab” color. My stylist told me that Brown & DeLine was getting ready to open a new salon, and she thought I would fit in great there. There was no turning back after that. The salon—and the industry—is not just my career, but it is truly a large piece of my life, and I like to say I’ve grown up there! Instantly I fell in love with making people feel beautiful. I feel so lucky that I found my career at a very young age. By the time I graduated from Saline High School, I had my cosmetology license and was ready to start on the floor.
I work hard to set goals for myself, short term and long term. There is no better feeling than reaching a goal. It’s also important for me to track my numbers and keep myself on top of my game. There’s truly lots of money to be made in this industry! I am a very hard worker and will help out anyone if it’s needed. My career is a way of life for me, and I take that seriously. Showing up and doing what I need to do is very important to me! Something that I always try to work on is finding balance in all aspects of my life. Balance is everything: my husband, myself, my family, work, friends, and, of course, vacations. There’s a time for them all!
My main focus at work is to be successful and to make my clients feel as appreciated as they are. I try to provide the best service, be up-to-date on the latest trends, and educate them on any and all beauty tips or tricks! Passion is something that is essential in this industry. You can’t leave home without it! It’s a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together. “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs
