My name is Sarahnell Wadley. I’ve been a cosmetologist since 1997. I’m also the mother of two amazing daughters and one son. I made the decision to attend cosmetology school early on. I always knew I wanted to be a hair designer. I’ve loved all things hair and beauty for as long as I can remember. I attended Douglas J Aveda Institute shortly after graduating from high school. I knew I had a gift. So with full speed ahead, I embarked on the best journey of my life.
Being a designer has allowed me to flourish in many areas of my life. It’s created confidence, independence, and positive self-reflection. My gratification comes from knowing every day I’ll put a smile on someone’s face regardless of my circumstance. What gives me the most gratification is being a part of a great team—which we all know starts at the top. The continuous support of our amazing career coach (Cathy Brown-Issel) has allowed me to experience and share in this adventure. I hope I have left you with a bit of inspiration and knowledge.
Remember, hard work pays off. So without further ado, I would like to thank the people in my life who have supported and believed in me and my talent, even when I didn’t. It takes a village. In addition to loving my career as a hair designer, doing this has also allowed me to travel the country and experience life in a way that wouldn’t have been possible. Being a part of a great salon has opened doors for me and allowed me to step outside the box. I’ve started my own business as a jewelry and clothing designer. This was possible only by being present and interactive with the community. The options are endless when it comes to building loyalties and creating opportunities.
Being a part of this industry has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Follow your dreams and step outside the box, even when it’s uncomfortable. The possibilities are endless. Dream big and pursue.
