STACEY BRYANT

My name is Stacey Bryant. I was 24 years old in August 2015. I am a strong, independent, courageous, and determined individual. I have big dreams; I don’t want to settle. I’m eager to constantly better myself.

I was not always this way, though. Growing up was very hard for me. I did not have much support or guidance. I was frequently reminded of my mistakes and told that I would not succeed. The negative things that were said to me influenced the way I saw myself and thought of myself. I was not proud of who I was, nor was I happy. I hated the way I looked. I was very hard on myself. I did not make the best choices or have friends who were a good influence. I found myself alone and down a path that would negatively change my life forever if I did not take control of it.

I came to realize I needed to believe in myself, put myself first. I did just that. I did a complete turnaround and re-created myself. That was the best decision I’ve ever made. I can now say I am proud of who I’ve become!

I’ve always had a talent and a passion for doing hair. Growing up, I was always doing my friends’ hair and my own. I’ve had my hair every color, some on accident. Always loved the option to change it. Eager to try something new. I’ve also always had a desire to be a psychologist. The ability to help people through difficult times appealed to me; hopefully, I could make a difference in their lives. Being a hairstylist is the best of both worlds. It honestly is! Not only can I be a listener and give advice to my clients, I also make them feel beautiful on the outside. When I can be a daymaker for someone else, it also makes my day.

When I decided to attend cosmetology school, I did not have the option for a loan. I did not have help paying my tuition. I worked three part-time jobs while going to school full-time. It was hard; I did not get much sleep. But I did what I had to do. Yes, I could have waited a year and saved money. I did not want to wait; I wanted to start my life, my career. Everything I’ve been through has only made me stronger. I set my goals to keep myself motivated and always bettering my future.

We only have one life, so make this one count! Don’t settle for anything less than what you deserve! Don’t wait any longer to follow your dreams! Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not good enough, because you are! You just have to believe in yourself. Confidence is the key to success! You are in control of your life! Every day is a second chance; a fresh new start awaits you every day! What are you waiting for? Go out there and make a difference. Be the difference. If you don’t follow your dreams, how will you help build someone else’s?
